The mission is part of the Vietnam Landing Pad initiative organized by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), aimed at connecting Australia’s edtech capabilities with Vietnam’s rapidly developing education ecosystem and supporting the country’s digital transformation goals in education.

Speaking at the Vietnam-Australia Digital Education Transformation Forum in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday morning, Emma McDonald, Deputy Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighted education, skills, and innovation as key pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

“Through Vietnam Landing Pad, we are connecting Australia’s innovation strengths with Vietnam’s digital transformation ambitions to enhance teaching and learning quality and prepare young people with future-ready skills,” McDonald said.

She added that Australian edtech is globally recognized for creativity, quality, and reliability, spanning from AI-powered learning platforms to smart classroom solutions and learning management systems.

Vietnam, she added, is viewed as one of Australia’s most dynamic and strategic partners in the region.

Among the 16 companies visiting are several global leaders such as Canva, the popular online design platform with hundreds of millions of users in more than 190 countries; Hackersjack, which provides 3D and virtual-reality-based cybersecurity education; and eReflect, developer of Wordela, an AI-integrated English vocabulary learning platform serving over 1.5 million users across 182 countries.

Others include Education Centre of Australia, which collaborates with OpenLearning to develop online learning systems and AI-powered vocational training models.

During their stay in Vietnam, the delegation will meet with representatives from education authorities, schools, universities, and local partners to exchange expertise, share practical implementation models, and explore opportunities for cooperation.

McDonald emphasized that this visit is a concrete step under Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, in which digital economy, education, and skills are identified as key priorities.

“Australia is proud to be Vietnam’s trusted partner in educational innovation.

By working together, we can build sustainable models that strengthen both countries’ education systems and prepare young generations for a fast-changing world,” she said.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Ha Nguyen, deputy chief of staff at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that with limited resources, identifying the right focus areas for digital transformation in education is critical to avoid inefficiency and waste.

He outlined six key pillars guiding the city’s education digitalization strategy, including digital awareness, digital institutions, digital infrastructure, digital workforce, cybersecurity, and digital transformation activities.

Nguyen stressed that a synchronized, accurate, and secure education data system is essential for effective implementation, alongside partnerships with technology enterprises to ensure interconnectivity, efficiency, and information security across the sector.
