2 arrested in southern Vietnam for organized dog theft, 12 dogs found dead

Police in Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam have arrested two men suspected of stealing dogs across Gia Rai Ward, seizing 12 dead dogs and several tools commonly used in pet theft, local authorities reported on Monday.

According to officers, the dog thieves operated in an organized group, armed with weapons and tools to resist capture.

Recent thefts had sparked public anger and posed a threat to local security, prompting police to launch a crackdown.

Officers set up patrols and called on residents to join efforts to protect public safety.

At around 2:00 am on Sunday, a patrol team spotted two men on a motorcycle carrying two large black plastic bags in Gia Rai.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered 12 dead dogs and tools linked to dog theft inside the bags.

The suspects were identified as Lam Hai Trung, 37, and Quach Dung Binh, 45, both residing in Ca Mau.

They later confessed to stealing the dogs.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.
