At around 12:30 pm on Monday, construction workers excavating foundations for construction work at Luu Son Elementary School in Do Luong Commune uncovered a large object suspected to be a bomb.
The Do Luong Military Command later confirmed the object was an MK82 bomb left over from the war period that measured 1.5 meters in length and 25 centimeters in diameter.
It was buried 2.5 meters underground with its fuse intact.

Military sappers identified the device as the largest unexploded bomb ever discovered in Do Luong.
The bomb was deemed highly dangerous due to its intact detonation system.
Local authorities immediately evacuated residents and livestock from the danger zone, cordoned off the area, and posted warning signs.
Security forces guarded the site until military sappers arrived.
The bomb was defused and transported to a rear base in Do Luong, where it was safely destroyed.
