3 killed in early-morning house fire in Ho Chi Minh City alley

The blaze occurred at around 1:00 am at a two-story house in an alley off To Ky Street in Dong Hung Thuan Ward.

Local residents reported hearing several small explosions followed by cries for help before discovering the house engulfed in flames, with its doors locked.

According to residents, the mother and her two children were sleeping inside the house and became trapped when the fire broke out.

As the alley is narrow and confined, people at the scene had difficulty accessing the house and were unable to use water hoses effectively to fight the fire.

The city’s firefighting and rescue police were deployed to the scene immediately after receiving reports of the blaze, approaching from multiple directions and using specialized hoses to bring the fire under control.

The flames were extinguished about 30 minutes later, allowing rescuers to enter the house, where they found the bodies of a woman and two children.

According to news site VnExpress, the 44-year-old mother and her 14-year-old daughter were found in the house’s lavatory, while her five-year-old son was discovered in the bedroom.

The woman’s husband was reportedly on a business trip in Lam Dong Province in the Central Highlands at the time of the fire.

Following the incident, Dong Hung Thuan Ward police coordinated with relevant units to cordon off the scene, take statements from witnesses, and transfer the victims’ bodies to the Binh Hung Hoa cremation center.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
