According to initial reports, the accident occurred at around 10:35 am while workers from a tunneling unit of Vinacomin-Mine Construction Company were building an underground roadway for Duong Huy Coal Company.
Two were injured and three were trapped inside.
Rescue forces were immediately mobilized under the direction of provincial leaders and executives of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin), the parent company of Vinacomin-Mine Construction Company.

By 12:30 pm, the injured workers were taken to Quang Ninh General Hospital.
The three missing workers were later found dead at 1:30 pm.
Bui Van Khang, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, visited the injured workers at the hospital, where doctors said their conditions had stabilized.
He urged the company to support the victims’ families, ensure proper treatment, and strengthen safety measures.

Authorities have pledged maximum financial and logistical support for affected families, including VND25 million (US$950) for each deceased worker.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
