The event runs through Thursday.
The event is co-organized by the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Federation, and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Khanh Hoa Province.
Of the 322 martial artists, there are 170 men and 152 women, who come from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, and host country Vietnam.
Athletes participate in both sparring and performance events.
Vietnam’s national taekwondo team is represented by its top athletes, including well-known names such as Chau Tuyet Van, Nguyen Thi Le Kim, Lien Thi Tuyet Mai, and Tran Thi Anh Tuyet.

Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, director of the Vietnam Sports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, emphasized the importance of the tournament as a key international sporting event in preparation for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.
"This championship is expected to offer a valuable competitive platform, promote exchange and learning, enhance technical skills, and strengthen solidarity and friendship among Southeast Asian nations," Viet said.
“It also serves as an opportunity to showcase the culture and beauty of Vietnam to regional and international friends."
Immediately following this tournament, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation will host the 2025 International Clubs Taekwondo Championships, scheduled to run until August 25.
