The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology’s Institute of Earth Sciences, said the quakes occurred in the communes of Mang Den, Mang Ri, Mang But, and Kon Plong, with magnitudes ranging from 2.6 to 3.7.
Mang Den recorded three tremors at 3:42 am, 3:43 am, and 10:34 pm, measuring 2.6, 2.8, and 3.7, respectively.
Mang Ri, Kon Plong, and Mang But experienced three additional quakes ranging from 2.6 to 3.2 in magnitude.
Experts classified all six events at disaster risk level 0, meaning they posed no threat to residents.
They explained that these were ‘induced earthquakes,’ often linked to water storage activities in local reservoirs.
Such tremors can occur sporadically or in clusters.
Authorities advised residents to remain calm during earthquakes.
Those indoors should seek shelter under sturdy furniture or door frames, while those outdoors should avoid power poles and lines as well as move to open areas.
Drivers are urged to slow down, pull over safely, and stop until the shaking ends.
The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center continues to monitor seismic activity in the region.
In related news, a magnitude-4.0 earthquake struck Muong Hung Commune in the northern mountainous province of Son La on Sunday evening, posing no disaster risk.
