The incident was discovered at around 10:45 am the same day at the home of Nguyen Quang L. in Phong Thu Market area, Dien Ban Tay Commune.

Initial reports said the family, including four adults, one teenager, and three young children, lost consciousness due to oxygen deprivation while sleeping in a closed room with a running generator and air conditioner.

Local authorities and residents quickly transported the victims to the commune health station for first aid before transferring them to Cam Le Hospital in Da Nang.

All eight remain in critical condition, and doctors are providing intensive treatment, said Le Van Quang, secretary of the commune’s Party Committee.

Officials believe the family used the generator overnight for power during a blackout caused by widespread flooding, leading to toxic gas buildup inside the sealed room.
