Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street, which connects Saigon Railway Station and Dan Chu Roundabout, has long been a popular destination for ceramics shoppers in Ho Chi Minh City.

The street is home to 17 long-established shops, many of which have operated for over 20 years, selling everything from bowls, plates, and tea sets to household ceramics and tableware for restaurants and hotels.

On Sunday, local authorities officially launched the ceramics shopping street initiative to give the long-established ceramics hub a fresh identity while preserving its traditional trading character.

For longtime merchants, the initiative offers hope of reviving business after years of declining customer numbers.

Tran Thi Oanh, 62, who has been selling ceramics for 40 years, said she previously operated two shops on the street but had to close one as business slowed in recent years.

She hopes the street's official recognition will attract more visitors and help local businesses recover.

Kim Chi, 50, a regular customer, welcomed the initiative, particularly the requirement for shops to publicly display prices.

"I stopped by this afternoon and learned that the street had officially become a ceramics shopping area. I was pleased to hear that shops must display their prices and sell at the listed rates," she said.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Le Thanh Quoc, vice-chairman of the Nhieu Loc Ward People's Committee, called on local businesses to comply with regulations, publicly display prices, and ensure product quality and clear origins.

He said ward authorities would monitor compliance while creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop.
