All 41 safely evacuated as tourist boat catches fire in Ha Long Bay

A tourist boat carrying 41 passengers and crew caught fire on Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam late on Friday afternoon, but all on board were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, local authorities confirmed the same day.

At around 5:00 pm, the Signature QN-7269 vessel was near Co Cave when flames broke out.

The boat was carrying 30 tourists and 11 crew members.

The captain and crew quickly organized an evacuation, transferring everyone safely off the vessel with support from nearby forces.

Provincial leaders responded immediately.

Chairman of the provincial administration ordered vice-chairman Nguyen Van Cong, who also serves as deputy head of the provincial Civil Defense Steering Committee, to the scene to oversee firefighting and recovery efforts.

Vice-chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hanh and officials from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Department of External Relations also arrived to provide support and reassurance to the tourists.

The fire was extinguished shortly afterward.

The boat did not sink, and all passengers and crew remained in stable condition.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
