AmCham Vietnam unifies chapters, establishes headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City

The American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam) has officially unified its Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City chapters into a single nationwide organization, establishing its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City to strengthen support for the U.S. business community and enhance advocacy efforts across the Southeast Asian nation.

“Effective July 1, 2026, AmCham Vietnam has launched as one unified national chamber, bringing together the former Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City chapters,” the organization said in an announcement issued the same day.

As part of the merger, the separate AmCham Hanoi and AmCham Ho Chi Minh City chapter structures came to an end on Wednesday after more than three decades of serving the U.S. business community in Vietnam.

Under the new structure, AmCham Vietnam is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City and maintains an office in Hanoi, while continuing to serve members nationwide and expand its presence in key localities across the country.

Mark Gillin, chair of AmCham Vietnam, said the merger reflected the fact that American business in Vietnam has already become national in scope, with its members operating across regions, provinces, supply chains, and policy discussions extending well beyond any single city.

“A member of AmCham Vietnam is a member across Vietnam — one chamber, one national network, one stronger voice,” Gillin said in an official statement.

AmCham Vietnam said the merger brings together the strengths of its two former chapters while addressing the evolving needs of the American business community in Vietnam.

AmCham Hanoi has built extensive experience in policy advocacy, fostering relationships with central government agencies, and representing the interests of the business community in the country's political center.

Meanwhile, AmCham Ho Chi Minh City has grown into one of the region's most dynamic American business communities, with a large membership base, vibrant commercial activities, and a wide range of business networking programs.

Travis Mitchell, the newly appointed executive director of AmCham Vietnam, said the merger represents more than an organizational restructuring, describing it as a reflection of the growing maturity of the American business community in Vietnam.

Mitchell said that with a unified nationwide model, AmCham Vietnam will strengthen connections among its members and enhance the effectiveness of its policy advocacy efforts.

He added that the organization will continue to serve as a trusted partner of both the Vietnamese and U.S. governments in promoting a transparent, business-friendly, and sustainable investment environment.
