Australia debuts alumni business network to boost economic connection with Vietnam

Australia and Vietnam are committed to strengthening the education cooperation and people-to-people links which underpin their bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, according to a media release issued by the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

The Australian Alumni Business Network is a first-of-its-kind platform, created by and for Australian alumni, to foster high-impact business growth, entrepreneurship, economic development, and sustainability, strengthening Australia–Vietnam bilateral partnership.

With more than 160,000 alumni of Australian education in Vietnam, these individuals are expected to shape Vietnam’s economic growth and professional landscape.

The network is designed for all Australian alumni, whether they completed full degrees, short courses, or vocational training in Australia through government scholarships or private study.

"The Australian Alumni Business Network is a landmark initiative that highlights the long-term value of investing in trust and people connection,” stated Sarah Hooper, Australia’s Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

“It works beyond a normal network and is a catalyst for bilateral growth through business leadership, innovation, and meaningful partnerships.

“The Australian government is proud to support a network led by alumni for alumni — backed by pioneering leaders, connected to industry, and focused on outcomes that matter to both countries."

To help shape the direction of this initiative, respected Australian alumni have established an advisory board bringing together influential alumni leaders from priority sectors, including digital economy, green energy innovation, agriculture and food, and education and skills.

Their expertise and strategic guidance will help drive the network’s direction, ensure its long-term sustainability, and deliver lasting impact on its members.

Also, the Australian government encourages alumni to join the network, share their interests, and contribute to its long-term direction.
