The foreigner, 35, was identified as L.S.G..
According to investigators, the incident occurred in the early hours of May 30 at the coffee shop on Le Hong Phong Street in Hai Chau Ward.
The Australian man suddenly became aggressive following a minor dispute with another customer inside the establishment.
He allegedly smashed the customer's mobile phone before using a wooden chair to destroy property throughout the café.
The foreigner shouted loudly, overturned furniture, and damaged equipment in the beverage preparation area as well as other parts of the premises.
The outburst caused panic among patrons and employees, many of whom fled onto the street for safety.
He then rushed to the mezzanine floor, kicked the door, and continued damaging the property.
The aggressive foreigner restrained a young man who was present at the café.
The disturbance only ended after police officers arrived at the scene.
Police stated that the incident seriously disrupted public order, affected the coffee shop’s business operations, and attracted large crowds along Le Hong Phong Street.
Initial damage was estimated at nearly VND383 million (US$14,540).
During the investigation, officers collected surveillance camera footage that captured the entire sequence of events.
Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage as part of an ongoing probe into potential additional offenses, including property destruction.
