Beehive removal leaves several stung, 2 victims with nearly 100 stings in Vietnam's Hai Phong

Several locals were stung by bees, including two individuals who were stung nearly 100 times each, when a hotel in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam tried to remove a beehive on Wednesday.

Four of the victims required hospitalization, according to a leader of the People’s Committee of Hai Phong’s Dong Khe Ward, where the hotel is located.

The beehive was situated in an outdoor corner of the hotel's roof.

When a specialist tried to remove the beehive, thousands of bees swarmed the area and stung the passers-by below. 

The nearby MedCare Hai Phong clinic promptly administered first aid to four individuals affected by the bee stings. 

Among them, a girl thought to be about 12 years old and her mother suffered nearly 100 bee stings each, covering their head, face, ears, and body. 

An elderly woman, over 80 years old, also endured more than 20 bee stings concentrated on her head and face. 

Additionally, a one-year-old boy, shielded by bystanders, sustained minimal injuries with only a few bee stings, including one near his eye. 

Medical treatment for the victims involved administering painkillers, removing bees from the girl's ears, extracting bee venom from their bodies, and disinfecting their wounds.

Each patient’s vital signs were closely monitored in order to detect anaphylactic shock.

Following initial treatment, the victims were transferred to a hospital for additional monitoring and treatment. 

Records indicated no abnormalities in the patients’ health during the transfer process.
