-- Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam met with South Korean National Assembly Speaker Woo Won Sik in Seoul on Tuesday as part of his ongoing state visit.

-- Vietnam’s minister of home affairs and South Korea’s minister of employment and labor held talks on Tuesday on the possibility of raising quotas for Vietnamese workers passing Korean language exams, as part of a state visit by Vietnamese Party chief To Lam and his spouse.

-- Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense on Tuesday received equipment and materials from Australia’s Department of Defense to support the Southeast Asian country’s peacekeeping operations.

Society

-- Heavy rain lasting more than 30 minutes flooded residential areas in Da Lat, Lam Dong Province on Tuesday afternoon, prompting authorities to evacuate hundreds of people to safety, while a 1.5-meter-high retaining wall collapsed during the downpour, killing two people.

-- Vietnam is expected to break ground on more than 250 projects worth over VND1.2 quadrillion (US$45.7 billion) next week to mark the 80th anniversary of its National Day (September 2).

-- Vietnam’s per capita milk consumption remains low at about 26-28 liters per year, compared to 35 liters in Thailand, 45 liters in Singapore, and 80-100 liters in Europe, Tran Quang Trung, chairman of the Vietnam Dairy Association, said at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

-- Chu Mom Ray National Park in Quang Ngai Province said on Tuesday it had recorded the first-ever sighting of the rare and endangered long-armed scarab species listed in Group IIB of Vietnam’s protected wildlife category, using camera trap technology.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday urged U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. to expand its investment in Vietnam, focusing on core technologies and higher-value segments of the semiconductor supply chain, during a meeting in Hanoi with company president and CEO Cristiano Amon.

Sports

-- Late Tuesday, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) canceled several match results for Vietnam's U21 women's team at the 2025 World Championship in Indonesia after finding one player ineligible. FIVB did not name the player or reason but forfeited all matches involving them, changing three wins to 0-3 losses and one 1-3 loss to 0-3. Vietnam dropped to last in Group A with a record of one win and four losses, and will now compete for places 17 to 24 instead of advancing to the round of 16.
