-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung urged Chinese companies at a meeting in Hanoi on Wednesday to continue to view Vietnam as a long-term production and trade base, increase investment in higher-quality projects using advanced technologies, and expand cooperation in strategic infrastructure, energy and other high-tech sectors to create greater value and spillover effects for Vietnam, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- On Wednesday, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita agreed at a meeting in Hanoi to deepen the two countries' enhanced comprehensive strategic partnership by expanding cooperation in trade, investment, defense, security, science and technology, and working toward bilateral trade of US$25 billion, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Team 584 under the Quang Tri Military Command recovered the remains of three fallen Vietnamese soldiers during its search on Tuesday and Wednesday, including a collective grave containing two sets of remains, from the Tri Buu area of Quang Tri Ward, Quang Tri Province, where the remains had been scattered among bricks and rubble by bomb blasts.

-- Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television (HTV) on Wednesday partnered with the municipal chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to raise funds through a charity program for children with serious illnesses and difficult circumstances, with donations to be provided during the Con Dao Spirit HTV - BCONS 2026 trail run in Con Dao Special Zone on August 30 to help them access treatment, continue their education and pursue their dreams.

-- On Wednesday, Vietnam’s Food Safety Authority asked the Gia Lai Department of Health to urgently investigate the cause of a food poisoning outbreak that sickened 150 people after they ate mixed banh mi in An Khe Ward, Gia Lai Province, trace the food’s origin and identify any food-safety violations, while all patients were reported to be in stable condition.

-- Ho Chi Minh City launched the 2026 Plastics Circularity Kick-Off Day on Wednesday to promote source waste separation, expand material recovery stations and develop technological and innovative solutions for collecting and recycling plastic waste, with local authorities, businesses and other organizations joining efforts to put the circular-economy model into practice.

-- The 20th Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC 2026) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, marking two decades of connecting Vietnam's tourism sector with international markets, with the main event scheduled for August 27-29 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center and featuring more than 500 businesses from over 45 countries and territories.

-- On Wednesday, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia established a ministerial-level tourism cooperation mechanism at their first tourism ministers' conference in Ho Chi Minh City, adopting a 2026-28 joint action plan to develop cross-border tourism products, improve connectivity and promote the 'One Journey, Three Destinations' initiative.
