-- Severe cold weather hits northern Vietnam on Monday as temperatures drops sharply, while parts of central Vietnam sees heavy rain and the south remains sunny, the national weather agency said.

-- Lam Dong Province’s health department said on Sunday that 36 people had been hospitalized since Friday afternoon with suspected food poisoning after eating ‘banh mi’ from one same outlet in Phan Thiet Ward, showing symptoms including abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and fever. Seventeen patients had been discharged by Sunday afternoon, while 19 remained under treatment.

-- A landslide on National Highway 6 in Phu Tho Province, northern Vietnam on Sunday killed three people after they were buried under rocks and soil, authorities said.

-- Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province is scheduled to conduct a test flight from Tan Son Nhat Airport on Monday using Vietnam’s largest aircraft, a Boeing 787, ahead of the airport’s first official flight on Friday.

Economy

-- Vietnam’s state-run Petrovietnam and its power unit PV Power on Sunday inaugurated the US$1.4-billion Nhon Trach 3 and 4 LNG-fired power plant in Dong Nai Province, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the ceremony.

-- V-Green Global Charging Station JSC, part of Vingroup, has proposed developing a network of VinFast electric vehicle charging stations and battery swap cabinets at bus stops and public facilities in Thanh Hoa Province, north-central Vietnam.

Travel

-- Hanoi’s tourism department and Tay Ho Ward authorities on Sunday closed the 2025 Hanoi craft village and traditional trade street food and tourism festival, which attracted more than 30,000 visitors, including foreign tourists, over four days.

-- A giant bouquet in Da Lat, Lam Dong Province made from 30,000 stems and 108 flower varieties by Dalat Hasfarm members was recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) on Sunday as the largest in the country, measuring 12.5 meters long with an eight-meter front diameter and a two-meter rear diameter.

-- Vietnam’s U22 men’s football team will face the Philippines in the semifinals at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games at 3:30 pm on Monday, followed by the women’s volleyball final against Thailand at 5:30 pm. Both events will be broadcast live on FPT Play, VTV channels, THVL, HTV, VTVcab, and the MyTV and TV360 apps.
