-- Party General Secretary To Lam will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Cambodia for a state visit on February 6 at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday.

-- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed on Saturday that Party chief To Lam has received many congratulatory messages and letters from global leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, following his re-election at the 14th National Party Congress earlier this month.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- Ho Chi Minh City will host 17 fireworks displays to celebrate the Lunar New Year, starting at 12:00 am on February 17, with each show lasting 15 minutes, according to the city’s administration.

-- More long-vacant land plots in downtown Ho Chi Minh City are being transformed into parks and flower gardens ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, as construction crews race to complete public green spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy during the holiday.

Society

-- Unilever Vietnam, through its detergent brand OMO, announced on Saturday that it will plant one million more trees between 2026 and 2030, following the successful completion of its earlier goal of planting one million trees from 2021 to 2025.

-- A strong cold air mass has swept deep into Vietnam, causing temperatures in the north to drop sharply on Sunday, while central provinces brace for heavier rains and the south sees little change, according to the national weather agency.

-- Police in Dong Nai Province have dismantled a large-scale fake gas production and distribution ring, seizing 14 trucks and nearly 4,000 gas cylinders after simultaneous raids at multiple locations, authorities said on Saturday.

-- More than 1,300 vehicles loaded with fresh produce and food were stranded at Vietnam’s land and waterway border gates on Friday after failing to obtain food-safety inspection results under new regulations, the Department of Vietnam Customs reported on Saturday.

-- Party chief To Lam on Saturday attended the inauguration of Si Pa Phin Elementary and Middle Boarding School in northern Dien Bien Province. The school is the first completed under a Politburo initiative to build 248 boarding schools in 248 border communes.
