-- Party General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday separately received Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, who is visiting Vietnam from Sunday to Tuesday as the special envoy of the Communist Party and state of Cuba. On the same day, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung held talks with Parrilla in Hanoi.

-- Northern Vietnam is forecast to experience fog, drizzle, and cold conditions on Tuesday, while southern provinces and cities may face hot and dry weather, according to the national weather agency.

-- A 49-year-old man was killed in a work accident in Ca Mau Province, when a boat overturned and crushed him during repairs, local authorities confirmed on Monday.

-- The Spring Fair 2026 opened on Monday at the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Dong Anh Commune, Hanoi. Running until February 13, the fair promises to energize the Tet consumer market with a large number of products and cultural experiences.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has defended ongoing renovation works at the iconic Ben Thanh Market and Turtle Lake after a proposal from the city’s Department of Planning and Architecture called for a temporary halt, citing public debate over aesthetics and landscape harmony.

Education

-- Vietnam’s top tech firm FPT Corporation has proposed building a large-scale education complex capable of accommodating more than 6,000 students in Dien Bien Province, covering all levels from elementary school to university, while also pledging to support the northern mountainous province’s digital transformation strategy for 2026-30.

Travel

-- Ninh Binh Province, home to the UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage site Trang An Landscape Complex, has set an ambitious target to attract over 30 million tourists and generate more than VND45 trillion (US$1.7 billion) in tourism revenue by 2030 as part of a broader economic growth plan, local authorities announced.

-- Vietnam Airlines and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism on Monday launched a major promotional campaign, unveiling nearly 140 tourism events for 2026 aimed at boosting Vietnam’s profile in domestic and international markets.
