-- Vietnam sees contrasting weather on Monday, with cold conditions in the north, hot sunshine in the south, and rain across central regions, the national weather agency said.
-- Vietnam’s traffic police said on Sunday evening they had fined 11 foreign motorcyclists VND5 million (US$193) each for illegally riding large-displacement motorcycles on the Tuyen Quang–Phu Tho expressway after a video showed the group traveling at high speed and weaving through traffic.
-- Orphaned children in Da Nang received new clothes, lucky money and attended a year-end gathering with foreign volunteers on Sunday, at an event organized by the Da Nang Red Cross, its orphan care center, and local and national journalists ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year.
-- Hanoi Metro said on Sunday it would adjust peak-hour train schedules from Monday on its two urban rail lines to better meet rising passenger demand, while keeping operating hours unchanged.
-- Da Nang police said they had uncovered a ring producing and selling counterfeit food products, seized more than 7,000 fake dried seaweed items and related materials, and detained the company’s male owner while placing his wife under a travel ban as part of a criminal investigation.
Ho Chi Minh City
-- Ho Chi Minh City police said on Sunday they had uncovered the sale of more than 10,000 counterfeit bottles of branded perfume worth an estimated VND10 billion ($385,357) at retail prices and arrested four suspects on charges of trading fake goods.
-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City said on Sunday they had broken up a gang accused of stealing cats in large numbers, seized 18 cats and related tools, detained six suspects, and returned animals to 10 owners. Officers are seeking one additional suspect who remains at large.
-- Ho Chi Minh City police said on Sunday that a coordinated inspection of the APLUS bar in Cau Ong Lanh Ward found 17 patrons and staff positive for drugs and identified two suspected cases of illegal drug possession while the venue was operating with more than 500 people inside.
-- G42 of the United Arab Emirates and a consortium of Vietnamese investors signed a framework agreement on Sunday to develop hyperscale data center infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City with total investment of up to $2 billion, the highlight of a city investment conference where additional technology and digital infrastructure projects were also agreed on.

-- Global travel platform Tripadvisor on Sunday released its 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards, ranking Vietnam’s Quy Nhon fourth among 25 destinations worldwide in the ‘Trending’ category.
