-- Police in Hanoi on Saturday arrested rapper Vu Xuan Binh, also known as Binh 'Gold,' on charges of robbing a taxi driver. Binh tested positive for ketamine and cannabis, police officers reported the same day.

-- The driver of a passenger bus involved in an accident that left 10 people dead and 14 injured on Friday morning in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam has been detained for allegedly violating road traffic regulations, local police said on Saturday.

-- In the wake of storm Wipha, the third storm to enter the East Vietnam Sea this year, only Nhon Mai Commune in Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam remains isolated due to a landslide on the main transportation route, the provincial steering committee for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, and civil defense said on Saturday. 

-- A delegation from the standing board of the Party Committee in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam, led by secretary Bui Thi Quynh Van, visited the proposed site for the Ho Le auxiliary border gate on Saturday. Van stated that the border gate would help facilitate trade and connectivity between Quang Ngai and Ratanakiri Province in Cambodia.

-- Residents and authorities in Khanh Binh Commune, Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam have caught a 5.7-kilogram crocodile in the Hoi Canal after it was spotted by locals, and efforts are still underway to locate another crocodile believed to be in the area, a local official said on Saturday.

-- Starting from this month, the Government Inspectorate will inspect 145 projects under ministries with a total investment of over VND100 billion (US$3.8 million) each, as well as provincial and municipal projects carrying a price tag of over VND1.5 trillion ($57.4 million) each that are at risk of losses or waste.

-- The Ministry of Construction, in coordination with the administration in Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam, on Saturday held a groundbreaking ceremony for phase 1 of the My An-Cao Lanh expressway project, which is part of the western North–South Expressway. The project was designed to span 26.6 kilometers and requires a total investment of VND6.128 trillion ($234.6 million), funded by ODA loans from the South Korean government and counterpart contributions from the Vietnamese government.

Travel 

-- Ho Chi Minh City has welcomed 695,930 international arrivals so far this month, surging 75.3 percent year on year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism. This is the city’s first tourism report since its administrative merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provinces.

World News

-- U.S. President Donald Trumpsaid on Saturday the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand had agreed to meet immediately to quickly work out a ceasefire, as he sought to broker peace after three days of fighting along their border, Reuters reported.
