-- U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed during phone talks with Party General Secretary of Vietnam To Lam on Wednesday night that the U.S. will significantly reduce reciprocal tariffs on many Vietnamese exports, and will continue to work with Vietnam to resolve trade-related issues, particularly in priority areas of both sides.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his belief that Australian Ambassador Gillian Bird will make positive contributions to the development of the Vietnam-Australia relationship during his reception for the newly appointed diplomat in Hanoi on Wednesday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- The Department of Public Security in Tay Ninh Province, southern Vietnam announced on Wednesday that the immigration management division had launched a 50-day campaign to issue digital identification accounts to foreigners.

-- Police in Phu Tho Province, northern Vietnam have arrested and filed charges against Duong Van Thiet, 44, director of Athena Vietnam Trading and Production Company, for allegedly manufacturing and trading fake cosmetics.

-- U.S President Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social at 10:25 am on Wednesday (local time) that he had just reached a trade deal with Vietnam.

-- The 21st international precision engineering and manufacturing exhibition and conference (MTA Vietnam 2025) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, bringing together nearly 500 exhibitors from over 21 nations and territories such as Britain, Austria, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany, the United States, Japan and South Korea. The event lasts until Saturday.

-- The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has released the Business Confidence Index of European businesses in Vietnam in the second quarter of 2025, revealing an evolving but still resilient outlook among these businesses. The index eased slightly to 61.1 amidst global uncertainty, but European firms maintained confidence in Vietnam’s long-term growth trajectory.

-- The number of newly-established businesses reached a record high of 24,422 in June, more than double the 2021-24 average, according to the Ministry of Finance's Department of Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development.
