-- Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam sent a congratulatory letter and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung wired a congratulatory message on Saturday to U.S. President Donald Trump on the 250th anniversary of the U.S.'s Independence Day (July 4, 1776 – July 4, 2026), according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Society

-- Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez on July 3 (local time) met with officers and trainers from Vietnam’s Border Guard Intermediate School No. 24, extending her gratitude, and awarded Venezuela’s hero medal to Vietnam's rescue dog team in recognition of its outstanding contributions to search-and-rescue operations following the twin earthquakes that rocked the country last week.

-- The upgrade of the Lang Cha Ca roundabout, one of Ho Chi Minh City's key traffic intersections at the northwestern gateway, has been completed, with the former globe monument replaced by a redesigned globe featuring Lac birds at the center.

-- The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has proposed investing more than VND2.499 trillion (US$94.9 million) from the state budget in constructing a new runway and upgrading the associated taxiway system at Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam after more than 50 years of operation.

-- Tay Ninh Province in southern Vietnam reported a gross regional domestic product growth rate of 10.12 percent in the first half of 2026, exceeding both the figure in the same period of 2025 and its target, the highest growth in southern Vietnam, according to the provincial People's Committee.

-- Newly registered foreign direct investment in Vietnam reached $34.65 billion in the first six months of this year, up 61 percent from a year earlier, marking the highest first-half registered FDI in decades, according to the National Statistics Office.

-- Accommodation establishments in Da Nang City, central Vietnam welcomed more than 557,000 guest stays over the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026’s five competition nights—May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20, and June 27—up 34 percent from the same period last year, organizers announced.
