-- Rain is expected across Vietnam on Monday, with moderate to heavy showers from Nghe An Province to Quang Binh Province, the national weather center said. Rainfall in that area will generally range from 30-70mm, with some places receiving over 100mm and intense bursts exceeding 80mm per three hours. 

-- Heavy rain and flooding in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam from Saturday to Sunday killed over 12,000 poultry and soaked 2,000 metric tons of rice, preliminary data showed.

-- Hanoi reported 155 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, bringing the total to 192 so far in 2025, the city’s Centrer for Disease Control said.

-- A fire broke out in the attic of the C2 Xuan Dinh apartment building in Hanoi’s Bac Tu Liem District on Sunday night, prompting residents to flee in panic. No casualties were reported, and authorities are investigating the cause while assessing property damage.

-- Police in Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam are investigating after a jeep carrying tourists slid into a lake at Bau Trang sand dunes on Sunday, killing one person.

Economy

-- Vietnamese coffee chain The Coffee House denied social media claims that it deliberately covered power outlets to discourage long-staying customers, saying it is adjusting its layout to better serve different customer groups.

-- Vietnam’s coffee output is projected at 1.95 million metric tons in 2025, with about 1.2 million metric tons remaining for domestic use and future exports after 736,600 metric tons were already shipped, the agriculture and environment ministry said.

Sports

-- Vietnam won three gold medals in individual and team events at the 2025 AKF Senior Karate Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Sunday.

-- Vietnam finished third overall behind Thailand and Kazakhstan at the ninth Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship held in Amman, Jordan, from Friday to Monday, winning a total of seven gold, two silver, and six bronze medals.
