-- A man in Ha Nha Commune, Da Nang City, central Vietnam was swept away by floodwaters on Tuesday but he survived after clinging to an electric pole in the raging current before being rescued by locals in a boat.
-- Police in Thu Duc Ward, Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday charged a 17-year-old with causing public disorder and said they are investigating and preparing charges against a 15-year-old for the two teens’ alleged assault on a security guard on metro line No. 1 on Sunday.
-- Hanoi traffic police on Tuesday fined a company VND7 million (US$266) and ordered the removal of an LED screen from a truck used to display advertisements on city streets after images of the vehicle circulating on social media drew public complaints.
-- Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration found that Hong Thai nasal inhalant products, which are widely sold in Vietnam, failed to meet safety standards for bacterial, yeast, and mold levels.

-- HSBC said Vietnam’s foreign investment pattern has shifted this year, with Singapore and mainland China each taking about a quarter of new FDI, while South Korea’s share fell and U.S. investment rose.
-- Vincom Retail said on Tuesday it sold its entire stake in Vincom NCT Real Estate Co., owner of Vincom Center Nguyen Chi Thanh in Hanoi, to Bao Quan Trading Investment and Service Co. Ltd. for VND3.63 trillion ($138 million), leaving the company independent of Vingroup and its affiliates.
-- United Airlines on Monday announced it has resumed daily flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the United States after nearly a decade. The new service, via Hong Kong, links the Vietnamese city to Los Angeles and San Francisco, with flight UA152 arriving from Hong Kong on Sunday night and UA153 departing early Monday.
