-- Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang on Thursday evening met President of the National Assembly of People's Power and President of the Council of State of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

-- Lao, Cuban, Nicaraguan leaders have sent condolences to their Vietnamese counterparts over the serious losses caused by storm Bualoi.

Society

-- Storm Matmo, whose center was located over the eastern waters of Luzon Island in the Philippines at 1:00 am on Friday, with maximum sustained winds reaching level 9 (75–88 kph), is forecast to enter the East Vietnam Sea on Friday afternoon and become the 11th storm to hit the maritime area this year, according to the national weather center.

-- Ho Chi Minh City recorded 712 hand, foot and mouth disease cases between September 22 and 28, up 49.8 percent compared to the average of the past four weeks.

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision to allocate over VND2.5 trillion (US$95.5 million) from the 2025 central budget reserve to help 15 localities recover from storm No. 10 and natural disasters.

-- China Southern Airlines flight CZ8155, carrying more than 170 passengers from China’s Shenzhen, landed at Da Nang International Airport in central Vietnam on Thursday evening, marking the resumption of the Shenzhen-Da Nang air route after a hiatus that lasted several years.
