-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Pyongyang International Airport on Thursday morning, commencing a state visit to North Korea at the invitation of General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs Kim Jong Un.

Ho Chi Minh City

-- The Cai Mep - Thi Vai international gateway port in Ho Chi Minh City will be modernized into a major international transshipment port of regional and global scale, heard a meeting recently chaired by standing vu e-chairman Nguyen Van Tho. The municipal Department of Construction and consulting units will finalize a draft proposal for the continued development and modernization of the port.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has given the green light for V-Green Global Charging Station Development JSC, a Vingroup subsidiary, to install electric vehicle charging stations on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street in Ben Thanh Ward and at two locations within the Khanh Hoi Park area in Vinh Hoi Ward.

-- As of 3:00 pm on Wednesday, the historic flooding in Thai Nguyen Province, northern Vietnam had left four people dead, two missing, and some 200,000 households submerged.

-- The Hanoi Department of Health and the capital administration plan to expand the Hanoi Children’s Hospital to a capacity of 1,000 beds, an increase of 800 beds, in order to better serve pediatric patients in the capital city, according to hospital director Ngo Quang Hung.

-- Ca Mau Province in southern Vietnam will spend nearly VND180 billion ($6.8 million) building and renovating more than 800 restrooms at public schools.

-- Gold prices in Vietnam surged to a record high on Wednesday, with SJC-branded bullion fetching VND142.5 million (US$5,407) per tael, up VND1.9 million ($72) per tael compared to the previous day's close.

-- The Vietnamese stock market is expected to attract billions of U.S. dollars in foreign investment and benefit the shares of many listed companies after index provider FTSE Russell officially upgraded Vietnam to secondary emerging market status from frontier market.

-- Vietnam stands ready to be a reliable partner and an attractive, safe destination for the global logistics business community, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at the 2025 FIATA World Congress, the largest annual event of the global logistics industry, held in Hanoi on Wednesday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
