-- Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang hoped that Australia would continue supporting the city’s robust growth during his meeting with Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn on Friday.

-- Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Tang Li expected the merger of Ho Chi Minh City with two provinces to transform the city into a regional and international megacity, heard a ceremony hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday night to mark the 76th anniversary of China’s National Day (October 1, 1949–2025).

-- Vuong Quoc Tuan, chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province, northern Vietnam, has expressed hope that the Minister of Construction can help address obstacles and urge BOT investors to work with the province to expand the Hanoi - Lang Son section of National Highway 1 from six to eight lanes.

-- Heavy rain on Thursday night and early Friday morning caused water levels in several rivers across Dong Nai Province to rise sharply, with floodwaters from the upstream Buong River sweeping down and inundating numerous households in An Vien and Phuoc Tan Communes.

-- Border guards in Lao Cai Province, northern Vietnam on September 4 caught four women for illegally transporting 2.5 kilograms of gold from China into Vietnam through the Lao Cai International Border Gate, the Border Guard Command of Lao Cai Province announced on Friday.

-- Rain and thunderstorms are forecast to hit many parts of Vietnam on Saturday, with the southern region likely to experience heavy downpour, according to the national weather center.

Economy

-- The Ministry of Industry and Trade has encouraged Lam Dong Province to expand its export markets to South America, Africa and other regions, as well as standardize the quality of farm produce, heard a working session between the province’s leadership and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien on Friday.

-- While identifying private sector development as the main driver of its economy, Da Nang City has set a target for the sector to contribute 60 - 62 percent of the city’s gross regional domestic product by 2030.

-- The People’s Committee of Vinh Long Province, southern Vietnam on Friday held talks with Japan’s WAGO Group and Hai Phong Investment, Trade and Construction Co., Ltd. to discuss potential cooperation in agricultural exports, technology transfer in crop cultivation, and biomass power development, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
