-- Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly arrived at Vnukovo 2 Airport in Moscow on Monday afternoon (local time) for a state visit to Russia from September 7 to 9 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and they were welcomed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and other Russian officials, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- On Monday, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who is on an official visit to South Korea, and South Korean Prime Minister Han Seong Sook agreed to boost science and technology cooperation and create opportunities for Vietnam to join South Korea’s newly announced semiconductor and AI mega-projects.

-- On Monday, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command recovered the remains of two soldiers believed to have been killed during the war from a collective grave discovered during construction of an Agribank branch in Quang Tri Ward, Quang Tri Province, northern Vietnam, while another set of remains was found in Dan Hoa Commune the same day.

-- The Drug Crime Investigation Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security said on Monday that authorities had dismantled a maritime drug trafficking ring and seized more than 1.1 metric tons of ketamine from a fishing boat in waters bordering Vietnam and Indonesia, in the largest maritime drug bust of its kind to date.

-- From June 23 to September 7, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command’s team recovered 592 sets of martyrs’ remains at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City, including 559 individual sets and 33 sets from eight mass graves, according to the command.

-- The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said on Monday that a tropical depression could form over the central East Vietnam Sea on September 12-13 and develop into a storm, while central Vietnam is forecast to experience widespread heavy rain from September 9-16.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to issue international and municipal bonds to raise funds for infrastructure projects, with a list of more than 21 projects from which five to seven feasible projects will be prioritized for strategic investors, according to the Vietnam International Financial Center’s executive agency.

-- Truong Hai Agriculture Joint Stock Company (THACO AGRI) has proposed a high-tech Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herb project covering 1,206 hectares in Tra Linh and Tra Tap Communes, Da Nang City, with the municipal Department of Finance saying on Monday that it had received the company’s investment proposal.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City administration on Monday approved the winning design for Thu Thiem 4 Bridge by the TECCO1-T.Y.Lin-CUBIC consortium, featuring four wave-shaped arches over the Saigon River, with the 2.1km, eight-lane bridge linking Tan Thuan and Thu Thiem and costing about VND5.06 trillion (US$193 million).

-- From 2026 to 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will prioritize eight urban railway projects to reach 255km of metro lines by 2030, with site clearance to be carried out ahead of construction, according to the city’s Department of Construction.
