According to the Nhat Le Border Guard Station under the Quang Tri Border Guard Command, residents discovered the dolphin early on the day along the beach area of Dong Thuan Ward.

The dolphin measured about two meters long and weighed roughly 150 kilograms.

Border guards, local authorities, and fishermen later conducted a ceremonial burial in accordance with coastal customs.

Veteran fishermen in the area said dolphins are considered sacred sea companions, believed to bring good luck and protect sailors during long voyages.

Therefore, when a dead dolphin is found, locals treat it with reverence and bury it as they would bury a family member.

A few months earlier, several smaller dead dolphins had also washed ashore along the Nhat Le coast and were buried in the same manner.
