According to a statement from Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT, on Thursday, making ChatGPT more accessible and affordable has been one of the most frequently requested features from users.
Launched in India and Indonesia earlier this year, ChatGPT Go is priced at 399 rupees (about US$4.5) per month—only a fraction of the cost of OpenAI’s premium plans.
Pricing may vary across different Asian markets.
With this latest rollout, ChatGPT Go is now available in 18 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Go includes all features available in the free version, and adds expanded access to tools such as image generation, file uploads, advanced data analysis, as well as higher usage limits for chats and core functionalities.
In addition to ChatGPT Go, OpenAI currently offers two other individual paid plans: ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month and ChatGPT Pro at $200 per month, as well as a business plan priced at $25 per month.
Since its debut in late 2022, ChatGPT has quickly become one of the most widely used AI tools in the world.
OpenAI reported that as of May 2025, user growth in low-income countries is over four times higher than in high-income countries.
OpenAI noted that the ChatGPT Go plan will be gradually rolled out to users in the region.
At present, users in Cambodia, Laos, and Nepal can sign up for ChatGPT Go on the web and Android platforms, while the iOS version is still in development.
