The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that the cold air mass is moving eastward and will possibly impact the country from Thursday night through Saturday.

During this period, Quang Tri to eastern Gia Lai will see widespread showers, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

From Saturday to Monday, northern mountain provinces will face scattered rain and thunderstorms.

In the Red River Delta and coastal northeastern provinces, drizzle, light rain, and fog are expected on Sunday.

Strong winds will also affect the East Vietnam Sea.

From Thursday to Saturday, the northern East Vietnam Sea, including Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Special Zone, will see northeast winds of 39-49 kph, with gusts up to 80 kph, generating waves of 2-4 meters.

The central East Vietnam Sea will experience winds of 29-49 kph and waves of 2-4 meters.

The Gulf of Tonkin will see winds up to 49 kph on Friday before easing.

The southern East Vietnam Sea, including the western waters of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Special Zone, will also face strong northeast winds of 39-49 kph with gusts up to 70 kph.

The National Civil Defense Steering Committee urged local administrations to closely monitor weather developments during the March 15 vote for Vietnam’s National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-31 term.

The steering committee advised residents in northern and central provinces to prepare for heavy rain and whirlwinds, while the coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to An Giang should warn fishermen and vessel operators to ensure safety.
