Colorful hot-air balloons light up Xuan Huong Lake in Vietnam’s Lam Dong

The event, themed ‘Lam Dong - The Sun and Heritage,’ has drawn thousands of visitors eager to admire the popular tourist site in Vietnam’s Central Highlands from above.

From early morning, crowds of residents and tourists flocked to the lakeside to witness the elegant ascent of numerous hot-air balloons over Xuan Huong Lake.

The highlight of the festival is the aerial display of balloons along the lakeshore.

According to the organizers, 15 balloons are set to float on tether, while five other decorative balloons are displayed on the ground.

Flights take place twice daily, from 7:00 to 9:30 am and 3:30 to 5:30 pm between Friday and Sunday.

Visitors can take part in tethered balloon rides that lift them dozens of meters into the air, offering a panoramic view of the charming landscape.

Dinh Van Tuan, vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said Lam Dong Province aims to enhance the Da Lat tourism brand through such festivals in a bid to make them annual events associated with the national scenic site of Xuan Huong Lake.

Former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien praised the idea to host a hot-air balloon festival, describing the fest as a promising step toward developing a signature autumn event for the province.

As night falls, these colorful balloons will illuminate Xuan Huong Lake, transforming the lake into a dreamy fusion of light and reflection.

As part of the festival, a gala concert titled ‘The Sunrise Legacy - Symphony of the Sun and Heritage’ will take place at Da Lat Opera House on Sunday night.

The show, directed by composer Duc Tri, will feature performances by People’s Artist Ta Minh Tam and renowned singers Le Quyen, Phuong Vy, Vo Ha Tram, Lan Nha, and Van Mai Huong, among others.
