Container truck driver fined for driving with foot while using TikTok on expy in Vietnam
A traffic police team issued a fine of VND5 million (US$191.7) and deducted four points from the driver’s license of a container truck driver who operated the vehicle with his foot while holding a phone and scrolling through TikTok on an expressway section in northern Vietnam, the Traffic Police Department reported on Wednesday.
According to the police report, at around 10:12 am the same day, at Km259 of the Phap Van – Cao Bo – Mai Son – National Highway 45 Expressway in Ninh Binh Province, northern Vietnam, the traffic police stopped and inspected the container truck, driven by P.V.D., born in 1992, residing in Quang Binh, north-central Vietnam.
The driver admitted to using his phone to browse TikTok for entertainment while driving.
According to data from the driver monitoring system, the police stated that the driver was operating the vehicle using one foot, with one hand holding the phone and eyes focused more on the screen than on the road.
He was also not wearing a seatbelt while driving on the expressway.
All of the driver’s actions could potentially lead to an accident, the Traffic Police Department noted.
