Thanh Nien Global Trading Joint Stock Company organized a signing ceremony to establish seafood supply partnerships with 20 local cooperatives.
This marks the first time that many crab-farming cooperatives in the province have joined forces with a company to bring Ca Mau mud crabs to international markets.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Van Phu, vice-chairman of the board of directors of Thanh Nien Global, stated that the signing represents a strategic step to meet the growing demand for live mud crabs in key export markets, particularly mainland China, Taiwan, and Singapore.
"At present, we hold about 30 percent of the export market share for crabs," Phu said.
"Our goal is to increase this figure to 50 percent by 2026 with the support of the cooperatives we've signed deals with."
A representative from the cooperatives noted that the agreements are not merely commercial contracts but significant opportunities for crab farmers to secure stable market access and enhance product value.

Nguyen Hoang An, chairman of the board of directors of the Cai Bat Crab Cooperative in Hung My Commune, Ca Mau Province, shared, "Our cooperative supplies about 90 tonnes of commercial crab annually.
“Farmers only wish for a stable market so that mud crabs can reclaim their status as a high-value specialty product, helping locals maintain their livelihoods and improve their quality of life."
Thanh Nien Global is committed to purchasing the entire volume of crabs meeting export standards from the cooperatives, based on market demand.
The firm has already sent staff to farming areas across the province to monitor production processes and support farmers in improving techniques and standardizing products for export.
By 2025, Ca Mau’s crab farming area is expected to increase to approximately 400,000 hectares, with an annual output of over 41,000 tonnes.
At the end of November, the province will host the second annual Ca Mau Crab Festival, featuring various promotional activities, including the 'crab master chef' competition, street art performances, don ca tai tu (southern folk music), a Ca Mau crab culinary space, and an exhibition area showcasing OCOP (One Commune One Product) goods, startups, and innovation initiatives.
