Da Nang cracks down on illegal stalls, monkey feeding on Son Tra Peninsula
Da Nang authorities have launched a major cleanup on the Son Tra Peninsula, targeting illegal vendors, littering, and visitors feeding wild monkeys to improve safety and protect the city’s image.
Since July 21, enforcement teams have been patrolling three shifts a day along roads leading up Son Tra Mountain.
Officials have already dismantled makeshift stalls opposite Green Lake and cleared informal roadside 'chill spots,' popular hangout areas among young people that created severe traffic hazards on steep mountain roads.

Traffic officers are also ticketing motorbikes parked illegally along Hoang Sa Street near the InterContinental resort.
Beyond clearing unauthorized businesses, officials are warning visitors not to feed the peninsula's wild monkey population.

New safety and warning signs will soon be installed along major tourist routes, advising visitors and locals against feeding wildlife while sightseeing or picnicking.
"We are taking firm action from the fishing wharf and beaches all the way up Son Tra Mountain to restore order," local authorities stated, adding that stricter measures will target unlicensed vendors, illegal beach camping, and anyone harassing or pressuring tourists into buying services.

The citywide crackdown follows a wave of complaints from residents and tourists.
Unlicensed drink stalls set up at night on steep bends below Linh Ung Pagoda had become major safety risks, blocking traffic and leaving behind piles of trash.
Meanwhile, beachgoers reported aggressive street vendors, poor sanitation, and illegal water-sports operators pressuring visitors to rent jet skis and surfboards at My Khe Beach and surrounding coastal areas.
