Da Nang cracks down on noisy karaoke singing along Han River

Local police officers teamed up with the ward’s Public Service Supply Center to launch inspections targeting groups using portable karaoke speakers on the street as they caused excessive noise and disturbed other residents and tourists.

During 12 patrols and inspections, officers discovered three separate groups gathering on the sidewalk to sing karaoke and play loud music using portable sound systems.

A representative of the center told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that officials temporarily seized three speakers and summoned those involved for questioning and warning.

The individuals reportedly pledged to comply with the law and refrain from repeating the violations.

Inspections and enforcement efforts would continue regularly to address urban order issues, including excessive public karaoke noise, said the official.

The ward has also published notices and information on its official information portal and the ward police’s social media page regarding penalties for noise violations in residential areas and public spaces, according to the Hai Chau Ward People’s Committee.

These efforts are intended to raise public awareness and encourage greater compliance with regulations.

Residents and visitors have recently complained about groups bringing portable speakers to the sidewalks along Bach Dang Street to sing karaoke and play loud music in the evenings.
