Bui Van Dung, chairman of Da Nang City’s Hoi An Tay Ward People’s Committee, on Saturday said he had signed the decision to officially launch the Thanh Ha tourist pier, located at Km1+600 on the secondary branch of the Thu Bon River.

The pier, with a 76.5 square-meter design area, includes a boat dock, an access road, a waiting area, a management house, and supporting facilities.

It can receive vessels with a draft of 0.56m and up to 40 passengers.

Dung said the operation of the pier represents a major effort by the authorities to diversify visitor sources, meet local expectations, and boost the incomes of the pottery village community.

Previously, boats docked informally, posing safety risks, and authorities required the practice to stop.

In recent months, the ward coordinated with relevant agencies to complete procedures and invest in the pier.

This is especially significant as Thanh Ha Pottery Village will hold a large-scale memorial ceremony honoring the craft’s founding ancestors during the National Day holiday (September 2).

Thanh Ha Pottery Village is the oldest craft village in Da Nang City, with over 500 years of history.

Located near the Thu Bon River and close to Hoi An’s ancient town, the place has been developed as a tourist destination, attracting 300,000 to 400,000 visitors annually.

In 2019, the village welcomed a record 650,000 visitors, generating tens of billions of VND in revenue.

The place remains a successful model for preserving and showcasing cultural heritage while attracting the largest crowds among Da Nang’s craft villages.

Da Nang airports busy during National Day holiday

According to Da Nang City’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with a series of events across Da Nang during the September 2 holiday, total tourist arrivals are expected to surpass 2024 levels, with average hotel occupancy projected at 55 to 60 percent.

The 2025 National Day break begins on Saturday, August 30, and runs through Tuesday, September 2.

From August 29 to September 2, Da Nang Airport will handle 730 flights, an average of 146 per day, up 25.9 percent from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Da Nang’s Chu Lai Domestic Airport is expected to receive 34 flights during this period.

Popular destinations including Sun World Ba Na Hills, Nui Than Tai hot spring park, Mikazuki, VinWonders Nam Hoi An water park, and Hoi An Ancient Town are forecast to attract large numbers of visitors over the four-day holiday.

Meanwhile, hotels along Vo Nguyen Giap Beach, in An Hai Ward, and Ngu Hanh Son Ward, as well as in Hoi An area, have begun decorating with Vietnamese national flags.
