Da Nang receives nearly 4,200 cruise passengers during Lunar New Year period

Vietnam’s central coastal city of Da Nang received nearly 4,200 international cruise passengers during the ongoing Lunar New Year holiday, including more than 1,000 people aboard the Seabourn Encore, which docked on Thursday, authorities said.

The vessel, operated by Tan Hong Travel, carried 580 tourists from Britain, France and the United States, along with about 500 crew members, according to the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The call was part of a series of cruise arrivals this week. 

On Friday, the city additionally welcomes about 2,800 visitors from European markets including Italy, France, Britain and Spain.

A further 650 European passengers are scheduled to arrive on Sunday, the department said.

Passengers visited attractions in central Vietnam including the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Marble Mountains and the ancient town of Hoi An.

Tan Van Vuong, deputy director of the department, said cruise arrivals during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday showed positive growth, reflecting a recovery in the segment.

In 2025, Da Nang received 47 cruise ships carrying 57,600 passengers, up 37.1 percent from a year earlier and 12 more vessels than the previous year. 

The city plans to receive 59 cruise ships with more than 64,000 passengers in 2026, an increase of about 11 percent compared with 2025, authorities said.
