The Da Nang administration announced on Sunday its delegation's arrival in Switzerland for meetings with leading technology organizations to discuss potential cooperation.
During a session with Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti, deputy secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang highlighted the city’s investment potential, particularly ongoing projects including Lien Chieu Port, high-tech industrial zones, the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, and an international financial center.
Thang asked Mayor Foletti to act as a bridge to strengthen ties and collaboration between Da Nang, Lugano, and other Swiss partners.
He emphasized the city’s interest in cooperating on public communications, transportation, public payment systems, educational programs, and Lugano’s Plan B—a joint project with cryptocurrency firm Tether aimed at accelerating digital payments and leveraging blockchain technology to transform urban financial infrastructure.
Foletti described Lugano as a ‘digital innovation city,’ implementing numerous technology and digital finance initiatives.
Representatives from Lugano presented the city’s digital transformation strategy, including the Lugano app, public communication programs, transport and payment projects, educational activities, and key Plan B initiatives such as the Plan B Forum.
During the visit, the Da Nang delegation toured the Satoshi statue, symbolizing innovation and blockchain development in Lugano, and visited PoW.Space, a key co-working hub in the Plan B ecosystem, to study Lugano’s support model for blockchain startups and businesses.
The delegation also held working sessions with Tether/Plan B representatives to discuss potential collaboration and Plan B implementation models, alongside meetings with Tether’s partners in Lugano.
They engaged with NAKA, a fintech company providing blockchain-based payment infrastructure to connect digital assets with traditional payment systems.
