Da Nang to host Manchester United legends in golf, football festival

Mai Minh Vuong, vice-chairman and general secretary of the Da Nang Golf Association, said the ‘The Red Dream – Golf Day’ event will feature Michael Owen and United legends like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Teddy Sheringham, along with Vietnamese players, local golf enthusiasts and special guests.

The tournament is set for June 26 at Ba Na Hills Golf Club and will host approximately 100 participants.

The golf event is part of the Vietnam–UK sports festival, which will run from June 26 to June 29.

The centerpiece of the festival is a friendly match on June 27 between The Manchester Reds and Vietnam Stars at the 17,000-seat Hoa Xuan Stadium.

Tickets range from VND600,000 (US$23) to VND1.5 million ($58).

Da Nang’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department expects that pairing the golf event with the football match at Hoa Xuan Stadium would promote Da Nang as a golf tourism destination in Asia and raise the city’s international profile.

In addition to sports, the event will include forums to spur tourism and investment between Vietnam and the UK, along with cultural performances featuring local artists.
