Vietnam’s tourism authorities said on Wednesday that about 72,000 tourists from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will visit Da Nang on charter flights next year, as the central coastal city seeks to revive one of its key international markets.

The charter routes will operate from April 1 to October 31, 2026, connecting Da Nang with 14 cities in Russia and the CIS, according to Anex Vietnam, which is coordinating the program.

Azur Air and Vietjet Air will operate the flights using wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 767s, Boeing 777s, and Airbus A330s.

About 70 flights are planned each month, carrying around 13,000 passengers who are expected to stay for more than 10 nights on average.

Da Nang authorities have secured around 2,000 hotel rooms per day across more than 110 hotels, from two- to five-star, to accommodate the expected arrivals, officials said.

Popular destinations for the tourists will include Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, Marble Mountains, Hoi An Ancient Town, and the Golden Bridge.

“Russian and CIS tourists typically prefer beach resorts to escape winter, and Da Nang is becoming a preferred destination,” said Van Ba Son, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Vietnam expects to host more than 425,000 Russian visitors in 2025, with Da Nang emerging as a key market, officials said, citing a rebound in Russian arrivals thanks to visa exemptions and promotional efforts.

The number of Russian arrivals nationwide rose 173 percent in the first nine months of 2025 to help push total international arrivals to 15.4 million, up 21.5 percent from a year earlier, data from the National Statistics Office showed.
