The project, announced during a meeting between Vietnamese conglomerate Truong Hai Group Corporation (Thaco) and the Da Nang People’s Committee on Monday, will span more than 103 kilometers.
Thaco chairman Tran Ba Duong said the company, in partnership with Hyundai Rotem, had previously reported project details to city leaders in December 2025.
In February this year, Thaco’s subsidiary Dai Quang Minh Company submitted documents to prepare the project proposal, which has since been approved by the municipal Department of Finance.
The metro line will be built in two phases.
Phase one covers 30.2 kilometers with 14 stations linking Da Nang Airport to Hoi An.
Phase two extends 73.6 kilometers with 10 stations connecting Hoi An to Chu Lai Airport.

If construction proceeds on schedule, the line is expected to open for operation in 2032, the Thaco chairman said.
Duong added that Thaco’s experience with metro projects in Ho Chi Minh City will help accelerate implementation once approvals are finalized.
Nguyen Manh Hung, newly-appointed chairman of the Da Nang administration, urged Thaco to expedite preparations and coordinate closely with city departments.
Hung emphasized that any issues should be reported immediately for resolution to keep the project on track.
