Dinh Bac stars as Vietnam beat Cambodia 3-1 at ASEAN Cup

Roared on by home supporters at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi on Friday, Dinh Bac struck a brace as Vietnam secured all three points in their final Group A fixture.

The 21-year-old forward was named Man of the Match after delivering one of his most complete performances of the tournament.

According to football statistics platform Sofascore, Dinh Bac earned a match-high rating of 9.7.

The striker was clinical in front of goal, directing all four of his shots on target and converting two of them.

His influence, however, extended beyond goalscoring.

The No. 9 played a key role in Vietnam’s attacking play, creating three chances for teammates, including one clear-cut opportunity.

Dinh Bac also completed two successful dribbles, consistently stretching and unsettling Cambodia’s defense throughout the match.

Reflecting on his performance, the forward credited his improvement to hard work on the training ground.

“Whenever I have a disappointing game, I look back at what went wrong and work harder in training,” he said.

“I always give my best during training sessions before a match so I can perform well when given the opportunity to play. I would like to dedicate these two goals to the fans, who have always believed in and supported me.”

The brace lifted Dinh Bac to the top of the tournament's scoring chart with five goals, although he insisted individual honors are not on his mind.

“My focus is not on personal achievements,” he said.

“Our immediate goal is the semifinals. I believe the whole team will prepare well for the two semifinal matches. That is what I am focusing on right now.”

Vietnam will play the first and second legs of the semifinals on August 15 and 18, with their opponent to be determined following the conclusion of Group B action on Friday.
