26 documentaries from European, Southeast Asian countries and Vietnam will be screened for free during the European Documentary Festival, which will run within next month.

26 documentaries from European, Southeast Asian countries and Vietnam will be screened for free as the European Documentary Festival is taken to Vietnam for the fifth time and runs within next month.

11 documentaries from European countries include “Le The ou L’electricite” (Tea or Electricity), “Bruxelles-Kigali”, and “Un été avec Anton” (Summer with Anton) from Belgium will be shown at the festival, which is set to run from June 5 to 14 in Hanoi and from June 10 to 29 at Hoa Sen University in Ho Chi Minh City.

Apart from six films from Southeast Asian countries, nine Vietnamese documentaries, including “Chu tren song” (Words on waves), “Chuyen dai o benh vien” (A long story at the hospital) and “Andres Menras – mot nguoi Viet” (Andres menras- a Vietnamese man), will also be screened.

Instead of featuring a youth film night as in last year’s festival, this year’s festival dedicates one day to the broadcast of Southeast Asian films including Vietnam’s “Quyen cua nguoi chet” (The perished’s rights) and “Ngon doi con song” (The living hill).

Unlike in previous festivals in which the documentaries were selected based on themes, this year’s festival focuses on recently-produced films to ensure topicality.

Free admission is allowed. Those interested can also get tickets at 365 Hoang Hoa Tham street, Ba Dinh district in Hanoi, and at HCMC’s Hoa Sen University.
