Ford Ranger recalled in Vietnam over airbag bracket issue

The commission said it had received a report from Ford Vietnam Limited regarding a recall program to inspect and replace the B-pillar airbag brackets on 2026-27 Ford Ranger vehicles imported and distributed in the Vietnamese market.

The affected vehicles are double-cab pickup trucks manufactured in Thailand between April 20 and June 22, with 683 vehicles subject to the recall.

The replacement is expected to take some two hours and has been carried out free of charge by Ford since August 31.

Meanwhile, the commission has also recorded a number of product and vehicle recalls announced overseas, including recalls involving several luxury brands such as Audi, BMW, Porsche and Ford.

According to the European Union's Safety Gate rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products, several vehicle models from Audi, BMW, Porsche and Ford have been flagged for failing to meet type-approval and market-surveillance requirements and have been subject to recalls from end users.

The affected models include the Audi Q3, manufactured in Germany between October 15, 2025, and June 5, 2026.

The vehicle may have defective welds in the gas generator of the front-seat belt pretensioner.

In the event of a collision, components could become detached, potentially causing injuries to occupants.

The BMW iX3, an electric vehicle manufactured in Germany between November 25, 2025, and May 4, 2026, has an electronic module used for the charging function that may have been defective during production.

The fault could cause electrical current to flow through the vehicle body while charging, creating a risk of high-voltage electric shock to users.

The Porsche Taycan, an electric vehicle manufactured in Germany between October 21, 2019, and March 4, 2024, may have multiple combined manufacturing defects in its high-voltage battery module.

These defects could increase the risk of fire during vehicle operation.

Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom vehicles are also subject to a safety warning.

The affected vehicles were manufactured in Turkey between May 16, 2023, and September 12, 2025, and between November 25, 2025, and March 4, 2026, respectively.

These models may also have defective welds in the gas generator of the front-seat belt pretensioner.
