A 58-year-old Chinese tourist died after reportedly suffering a suspected cardiac arrest aboard train SE48 traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, a popular attraction of the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Nguyen Trong Van, chairman of the People’s Committee of Suoi Kiet Commune in Lam Dong Province, confirmed the death on Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary information, train SE48 departed Saigon Railway Station in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday evening, bound for Nha Trang Station in Khanh Hoa Province.

The train was carrying nearly 200 Chinese tourists traveling to the coastal province.

At around 1:00 am on Wednesday, a tour guide informed the train crew that a passenger identified as Q.X., 58, from China’s Liaoning Province, was showing signs of a cardiac arrest.

The train crew arranged an unscheduled stop at the nearest station, Suoi Kiet Station in Lam Dong Province, so the passenger could be taken to a local medical center for emergency treatment.

The train subsequently resumed its journey to Nha Trang.

At Suoi Kiet Medical Center, healthcare workers confirmed that the Chinese tourist had died.

Police in Suoi Kiet Commune instructed the train crew to relocate passengers from carriage No. 7, where the deceased had been seated, to another area to facilitate further verification and investigation into the incident.
