French pianist Dana Ciocarlie to perform in Ho Chi Minh City this weekend

The performance is part of her Vietnam tour, which includes Hanoi, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Lat, to introduce her project 'Along the Water – From the Loire to the Mekong' from November 26 to December 8.

The project combines concerts with masterclasses built around sharing, discovery, and cultural connection between France and Vietnam.

Inspired by the Loire and Mekong Rivers, Dana Ciocarlie has crafted a solo recital that weaves together a dialogue across eras and musical influences.

The program in Ho Chi Minh City will feature composers associated with the Touraine region, through which the Loire flows, or inspired by the river itself, such as Henri Dutilleux and Francis Poulenc; contemporary composers Ton That Tiet of Vietnam and Édith Canat de Chizy of France, whose works 'L’Océan' and 'Sailing,' respectively explore the theme of water; French classical masters including Ravel, Debussy, and Fauré; and compositions by Élise Bertrand and Philippe Hersant.

The recital is both a tribute to France – Vietnam friendship and a reflection on the power of water as a source of life, emotion, and endless inspiration.

For more than two decades, Ciocarlie has built a distinguished career combining solo performances, chamber music, and orchestral collaborations.

She has appeared on notable stages including Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Lincoln Center in New York, the Trans – Siberian Arts Festival and the Festival International de La Roque d’Anthéron.

Alongside her performing career, Ciocarlie is an active educator at the National High Conservatory of Music Lyon, the Alfred Cortot School of Music, and the Jacques Ibert Municipal Music Conservatory.

A dedicated pedagogue, she values exchanges with young musicians during her tours and in masterclasses she has conducted around the world.

Dana Ciocarlie’s recital is scheduled for 7:00 pm on December 6 at the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s House, 36 Le Quy Don Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
