German tourist rescued after breaking leg in Da Nang mountain accident

The tourist, identified by local police as B.K.M., was injured on Tuesday while traveling alone on a motorbike in Hoc Chanh mountain in An Thanh Hamlet, Duy Xuyen Commune, Da Nang.

Duy Xuyen Commune police said the man was unable to speak Vietnamese and used a location-sharing feature to send his position to the guesthouse where he was staying, prompting a rescue request.

More than 20 police officers, local militia members, and residents were deployed to reach the site after receiving the alert.

Rescue teams navigated difficult terrain and hot weather to reach the injured tourist, who had suffered a broken leg in the incident.

Authorities said he was carried out of the forest using a makeshift stretcher and taken down the mountain with assistance from multiple local forces and residents.

He was transported to Duy Xuyen General Hospital for treatment.

His condition has since stabilized, police said.
