The Hanoi Department of Tourism on Friday night launched a program titled ‘Get on Hanoi 2026 – Green Journey,’ marking the opening of the capital’s tourism year with a strong message of sustainability and green development.

The ‘Green Journey’ is not merely the theme of a tourism season, but a clear reflection of Hanoi’s strong strategy in building its image as a safe, friendly, high-quality and attractive destination.

Building on the success of the ‘Get on Hanoi’ series since 2022, the 2026 edition serves as the tourism sector’s first major highlight of the year.

Speaking at the event, Tran Trung Hieu, deputy head of the municipal department, said that the ‘green tourism journey’ that Hanoi is pursuing is a journey of responsibility for heritage, living environment, and future generations.

It is also a journey grounded in confidence that Hanoi can become a leading regional destination for green tourism, cultural tourism and experiential travel closely linked to outstanding historical, cultural and artistic values.

In the coming period, Hanoi’s tourism sector will focus on development along green, circular and sustainable lines, while strengthening regional linkages, expanding international cooperation, accelerating digital transformation, and placing visitor experience and satisfaction at the center.

In 2026, Hanoi aims to attract more than 35.8 million visitors, including over 8.6 million international arrivals.

Total tourism revenue is projected to exceed VND160 trillion (US$6.1 billion).

At the event, the Hanoi Department of Tourism announced and presented official recognition to new tourist sites, along with a collection of more than 80 distinctive tourism experiences across the capital.

Three destinations receiving recognition include the Hanoi Botanical Garden in Tay Tuu Ward, Thiet Ung Fine Art Woodcraft Village, and Thuy Lam Tourist Site in Thu Lam Commune.

These tourist attractions are rich in cultural, historical and natural landscape values, contributing to the diversification of suburban spaces while linking local communities with sustainable tourism development.

Following the ‘Get on Hanoi 2026’ program, a series of vibrant activities were set to take place over the weekend at the Tay Ho creative cultural space.

On Saturday, the program ‘Mong New Year in the City 2026’ will recreate the traditional Lunar New Year atmosphere of the Hmong ethnic people, featuring the Gau Tao Festival, cultural contests, a talk show, folk games, and cuisine and cultural exhibition booths.

Besides, the Gia Lai Tourism Day in Hanoi will take place on Sunday, introducing Gia Lai Province’s tourism potential through exhibitions, cuisine, traditional crafts and performances.
